The Spirit of Truth

The Spirit of Truth

When the Spirit comes into believers, He comes to tell them all about Jesus’ salvation. He reveals Christ. He paints Him as the wonderful Son of God, the brightest gem the Father had in heaven—our only hope of salvation and reconciliation with the Father. How sweet it is to have the Holy Ghost come to you and show you Jesus through the Word. He witnesses and reveals through the Word and never gets outside of the Word. Speak through me, Holy Spirit, with a tongue of praise for Jesus, and still all criticism and harsh talk. Amen.

John 16:13-15

Jesus said in John 14:6, that He was “the way, the truth and the life.” Thus, the Holy Spirit, who is Christ’s representative will speak only of the truth in Christ. Here in John 16, Jesus further explains that the Holy Spirit will glorify Him (Christ). It is clear by Jesus’ teaching that the Holy Spirit—the Spirit of Truth—reveals to us the truth and teaching of Christ. In John 1:14, John said that the Word of God was made flesh and dwelt among us. Christ is the expressed image of God’s Word, and the Holy Spirit reveals Jesus to us.

Further, Jesus explains the Holy Spirit will reveal all that belongs to the Father. Jesus wants us to live a full, abundant, and overflowing Christian life. He wants us to know all that is available to us as believers. Jesus said he came for us to have abundant life (John 10:10). Paul taught us that every spiritual blessing has been made available to us (Ephesians 1:3). Are you receiving from the Holy Spirit all truth, direction, and resources available?

As Ephesians 3:20 says, I want the “exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think” active in my life. We need the power of the Holy Spirit operating in our lives to receive all the fullness available to us.
