Hide and Seek

Hide and Seek

The Lord is trying to get His people simply to “lighten up.” It is a serious delusion for us to take ourselves, or our work too seriously because that is usually an indication that we are still moving in our own human energy. The Lord really does sit in the heavens and laugh (Psalm 2:4), and when we are truly seated with Him, seeing from His perspective, we, too, will begin to laugh at many of the things we are so uptight about now.

Zephaniah 3:16-17

The name Zephaniah means “the Lord hides.” He prophesied during the reign of Josiah (639-609 B.C.), Judah’s last godly ruler. It is probable that Zephaniah’s prophecies helped to inspire the reforms that Josiah made in purifying Solomon’s Temple and establishing some moral order. Zephaniah prophesied concerning the coming judgment or “the great day of the Lord” about God’s rebellious people. This phrase is often used to describe the end times and coming judgment.

Have you ever felt in your life that God was hiding from you? Maybe you are facing a time now in your life that reminds you of the childhood game “hide and seek”—only God is the one hiding. These seasons of our lives become an opportunity for editing and cleaning house. What in your life do you need to hit the “Delete” button on (and never press “undo”)? What area of your life needs the furniture moved and cleaning to occur?

In the midst of restructure, cleaning, and editing, God says “Do not fear.” It may seem like the hour in which we live is bleak and destruction is imminent; “let not your hands be weak.” Why? “The Lord YOUR God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

God is laughing at His enemies. God is singing, dancing, laughing, and delighting Himself in your life. He knows this present struggle is making an opportunity for Him to display His glory in your life. God is confident in His glory—confident that He can work on your behalf! You can have confidence in His glory also.
